As I crisscross the many cycle lanes and cycle routes across Manchester it never ceases to amaze me how much broken glass there is strewn across my path. Broken glass is not only a hazard to cyclists with the threat of the odd puncture but also if I was to fall off my bike and land on glass I would end up in hospital.
There is not a day goes by when I do not see a broken beer bottle that has been left by some selfish drinker who without a care in the world has left a trail of destruction that could last long after the glass was left. As we all know glass is not biodegradable so it can lie in waiting for years to come and all it takes is one wrong move and a cyclist can end up with a nasty injury.
As a keen Manchester cyclist I ask please can you think before discarding glass.
